MPTF ACCOMPLSHMENTS & DEVELOPMENT AGENDA


 

 

1.The March Ahead book by Dr. SMT was published in 2002  with the focus on The MPTF development agenda /plans in the Indian Sub-continent; "The Development  Of A Foundation To Support Social And Economic Empowerment Of  People Marginalized By Poverty , Gender Discrimination , Disability  And Other Factors In The Indian Subcontinent".  The book in its entirety can be viewed as a link to this website.
 
2.  The MPTF Indian Operation base;
the city of Kolkata (Calcutta) West Bengal was selected & finalized in 2003.The primary geographic focus is West Bengal, with some special collaborations in other regions of India.

 
3. The MPTF, was granted its  Consultative Status by the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations  in May 2004. This allows the foundation to work in close consultative relationship with the ECOSOC, and other UN bodies, developing partnerships on  the development issues of the marginalized people. This status allows the MPTF representatives to attend the UN meetings and conferences of interest; in NY, Geneva, Vienna, and the Asia Pacific Social & Economic Commission in Bangkok and other places. This helps in furthering and fueling  The MPTF development agenda in the Indian Sub-continent. The statements submitted by us can be viewed on this website further on. 

4. The MPTF has maintained working relationships with the UN/NGO Committees  on, the Status of Women, Mental Health and Human Rights. We are in  the process of getting involved with the UNIFEM  and the Financing for Development Committees.

5. The MPTF has participated in  UN organized and  sponsored meetings in New York, Canada,  Geneva and plans to attend upcoming World Urban Forum  in China in 2008.  Such participations allow us to present statements and position papers, thus facilitating a true, issue based  consultative status. we have also participated  in the Millennium Forum in 2000, as well as, the  Millennium Development Campaign since 2006. 
 

6. Network, and Collaborative relationships have (are being) developed with the International, National, and Local Organizations in India/USA, such as World Bank, UNDP, and the Gates Foundation . We are in the process of forming working partnerships with Times of India Foundation, as well as, the Hunger Project operating in  USA and India.


7.  The MPTF has participated in the Regional and International Micro-Credit Summits in New Delhi and Canada. In 2006 we submitted our First Institutional Plan (IP). We have submitted our Second IP for the Asia-Pacific-Micro-Credit Summit in  Bali   Indonesia in  July  2008, wherein  we would be  participating. 

8. The MPTF has established its Micro-Credit/ Grant Fund  to be implemented in 2008. The planned focus would be on  enhancing livelihood related activities among the poor people; through  individual and cooperative activities. Details on this program can be viewed further on  this website. 

9.  The MPTF works in close partnerships with I-NGOs such as, World Rehabilitation Fund, World Association for Psycho-Social Rehabilitation, People's  Decade  for  Human Rights Education, and Global Community's Initiatives and Zonta International.

10. The MPTF has forged multiple working and networking partnerships with  entities in USA and India; to name some-- Indian Social Institute in new Delhi, Calcutta University, Department for Human Rights, Rotary District: West Bengal, Tata Institute of  Social   Sciences, Mumbai, and International Institute of Rural Reconstruction, Philippines/USA;  to  work toward and achieve  common  results.

10. The MPTF Development Agenda; the   process of collaborations and partnership building-- is Marching Ahead. In 2008-2009 we will be focusing on partnerships with larger entities; to develop strategies in achieving common development goals. This is an on-going process, and involves both Governmental and Non-Governmental  Organizations  in India and USA.
